On Thursday, June 27, 2024, the Institute for Education and Preaching Development (LPPD) of East Java Province held a Workshop on the Development of Moderate Islam and Strengthening of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) at the At-Taqwa Islamic Institute (IAI) campus in Bondowoso. This workshop aimed to deepen understanding and application of Moderate Islam (Islam Wasathiyah) and to reinforce NKRI through education.

The workshop featured two prominent speakers. The first speaker, Prof. Dr. H. Hepni, S.Ag., MM., Rector of UIN KHAS Jember, provided participants with an in-depth understanding of the concept of Moderate Islam. Participants were encouraged to integrate these moderate values into their curriculum and preaching activities.

The second speaker, Prof. Dr. H. Abd. Halim Soebahar, MA., Chairman of LPPD East Java Province, delivered a presentation on "LPPD Programs: Past, Present, and Future." Dr. Suheri, S.Pd., M.Pd.I., Rector of IAI At-Taqwa Bondowoso, served as the moderator. Prof. Dr. H. Abd. Halim Soebahar, MA., discussed the evaluation of past LPPD programs, current developments, and future plans. The discussion led to several recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of future LPPD programs.

The workshop was attended by representatives from 26 Islamic educational institutions from the Jember area, including Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, Jember, Situbondo, Lumajang, and Probolinggo, specifically Islamic universities and pesantren. Notable attendees included leaders from Ma'had Aly Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid and the Graduate School of Nurul Jadid University.

This workshop not only provided theoretical understanding but also aimed to create actionable plans that participants could implement in their educational and preaching activities. It also served as a platform to strengthen networking and cooperation among Islamic educational institutions in the Jember region.

Through this workshop, it is hoped that the values of Moderate Islam will become more deeply internalized within society and that NKRI will grow stronger through the active role of Islamic educational institutions. Overall, the workshop successfully achieved its goal of enhancing understanding of Moderate Islam and strengthening NKRI. Participants left with greater insight, a collaborative spirit, and clear action plans to implement within their respective institutions
