Lumajang – The Educational Institution of Ma’arif PCNU in Lumajang Regency held a brainstorming session titled “School Branding Strategy” on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 8:30 AM at Prima Hotel, Lumajang.
The event, which began at 8:30 AM, was attended by school principals from various levels, including TK/RA (early childhood education), SMP/MTs (junior high schools), and SMA/MA (senior high schools) under the Ma’arif PCNU network. With more than 200 participants filling the venue, the enthusiasm for the theme was clearly visible—how to build a strong image and public trust in educational institutions.
Alfian Ishaq, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of Ma’arif PCNU Lumajang, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of branding as a key component in improving the quality of educational institutions.
“Nowadays, academic excellence alone is not enough. Educational institutions must consistently and strategically present their identity, values, and strengths to the public,” he stated.
The seminar also received strong support from the legislative sector. H. Anang Akhmad Syaifuddin, a member of the East Java Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD), attended the event and shared his perspective. He pointed out that branding has often been an overlooked yet essential element in school development.
“Education must be adaptive and able to promote its strengths without compromising noble values. Branding is a survival and growth strategy in today’s competitive era,” he asserted.
The first keynote speaker, Dr. H. Akmal Mundiri, M.Pd., Director of the Postgraduate Program at Universitas Nurul Jadid, presented a concise yet insightful explanation of the three core elements in school branding: identity, trust, and reputation.
“Branding is not just about appearance; it’s about how our institution is known, trusted, and valued because of its principles and performance,” he explained.
The second speaker, Dr. Abu Hasan Agus R., M.Pd.I., Head of the Master’s Program in Islamic Education Management at Universitas Nurul Jadid, further elaborated with practical strategies for building a school’s public image. He covered communication approaches, public service excellence, and strengthening the unique character of each institution.
The Q&A session was one of the most dynamic parts of the event. School principals eagerly shared their experiences, challenges, and aspirations in developing institutions that are recognized, appreciated, and cherished by the community.
The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the speakers and a group photo session. More than just a seminar, this activity marked the beginning of a stronger collaboration between Ma’arif PCNU Lumajang and the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Nurul Jadid in driving education transformation grounded in values and strategy.
