Situbondo, October 26, 2025 — The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training of the State Islamic University (UIN) Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember organized an academic event themed “The Role of PTKIN in Instilling Digital Ethics and Religious Moderation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” on Sunday (October 26, 2025), held at the Auditorium of Utama Raya Hotel, Situbondo. The event featured Dr. KH. Najiburrohman, M.Ag., M.Pd., Rector of Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA) and permanent lecturer at UNUJA Postgraduate Program, as the keynote speaker.
In his presentation, Dr. Najiburrohman emphasized that the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought a significant impact on Islamic education. On one hand, AI offers great opportunities for innovation in learning; yet on the other, it presents serious challenges to ethics, spirituality, and religious moderation. He highlighted that State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) must become pioneers in cultivating awareness of digital ethics and moderation values amidst the rapid tide of global digitalization. “Digital ethics is not merely about using technology wisely, but also about how religious values guide human behavior within the digital space,” he explained.

Furthermore, he stated that PTKIN needs to strengthen the three pillars of higher education — education, research, and community service — by integrating digital literacy and religious moderation based on the values of Islam rahmatan lil ‘alamin (Islam as a mercy for all). Through such integration, Islamic universities are expected to produce religious, technologically literate, and humanistic generations capable of adapting to technological change without losing their Islamic identity.
This event also served as a follow-up to the collaborative partnership between Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA) and UIN Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq (UINKHAS) Jember, aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and faculty capacity development in the fields of Islamic studies and educational digitalization. Through collaborative programs like this, both institutions are committed to building academic synergy focused on reinforcing religious moderation and digital ethics in the age of artificial intelligence.
The event took place in an interactive and enthusiastic atmosphere, attended by lecturers, students, and education practitioners from various regions. Several participants raised critical questions regarding the application of moderation values in the digital realm and the role of educational institutions in shaping ethical culture in cyberspace. This enthusiasm reflected the growing academic concern for moral and spiritual issues in the use of technology.
Overall, this program marked an important momentum in strengthening collaboration among Islamic higher education institutions, reaffirming the commitment of UNUJA and UINKHAS Jember to advancing Islamic education that is progressive, ethical, and responsive to the challenges of the Artificial Intelligence era.
