Probolinggo, January 11, 2025 – In an effort to strengthen its academic contributions at the international level, Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA), through its Institute for Publication, Research, and Community Engagement (LP3M), successfully conducted a Scopus-Indexed Journal Writing Workshop. Held at the UNUJA Faculty Residence, the workshop was attended by 24 lecturers from diverse backgrounds, including postgraduate lecturers, ranging from junior to senior academics. This initiative aimed to accelerate the attainment of professorships and increase publications in reputable international journals.

The workshop featured Dr. Karman, M.Ag., Managing Editor of the Islamic Education Journal at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, as the keynote speaker. With an applicative and interactive approach, Dr. Karman comprehensively explored strategies for writing high-quality scientific articles. He emphasized the importance of understanding article structure, selecting the right journal, and adhering to international academic writing standards.

“Success in publishing in reputable journals is not only determined by research quality but also by the strategies employed. From crafting an engaging title and writing an effective abstract to presenting systematic data,” Dr. Karman explained.

Beyond theoretical insights, participants were also guided through the practical process of drafting articles. Each participant received direct feedback from the speaker, providing them with concrete guidance to improve their writing quality.

In his opening remarks, UNUJA’s Vice Rector III, Dr. H. Hasan Baharun, M.Pd., highlighted that this workshop represents UNUJA’s tangible effort to encourage its lecturers to produce globally recognized academic works. “We aim for our lecturers not only to be productive in writing but also to deliver impactful research that significantly contributes to the development of knowledge,” he said.

Dr. H. Akmal Mundiri, M.Pd., Director of UNUJA's Postgraduate Program, also expressed his appreciation for the event. He described the workshop as a critical moment, particularly for postgraduate lecturers from the Master of Islamic Education and Master of Islamic Management programs, to accelerate the completion of their articles and advance toward publication in international journals.

The participants exhibited high enthusiasm throughout the event. Interactive discussions on current research trends, plagiarism awareness, and tips on selecting appropriate journals became key highlights of the workshop. Dr. Nurul Hidayah, M.Pd., one of the participants, shared that the workshop provided new insights into writing more structured articles that align with international standards.

“This workshop is truly enriching. It not only offers writing strategies but also motivates us to complete our articles promptly and strive for publication in reputable journals,” she remarked.

This workshop is more than just a technical training program; it is part of UNUJA’s grand vision to become a globally competitive university. With the support of LP3M, UNUJA is committed to continuing similar programs in the future, establishing this workshop as a hallmark of its academic tradition.

With the success of this workshop, UNUJA has further solidified its position as a university focused on advancing world-class academic development. The hope is that UNUJA lecturers will produce outstanding research that not only gains international recognition but also has a meaningful impact on society. This Scopus-Indexed Journal Writing Workshop serves as a crucial milestone in UNUJA’s journey toward a global reputation. Beyond learning, it inspires and empowers lecturers to continuously create and elevate UNUJA’s name on the global academic stage.
