Jember – The Doctoral Program in Islamic Education Management (S3 MPI), Postgraduate School of Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq (UIN KHAS) Jember, successfully organized a Public Lecture entitled “From Idea to Scopus-Indexed Article Publication” on Friday, June 19, 2026. The event was held in the Podcast Room of the Postgraduate Supporting Building at UIN KHAS Jember and was attended enthusiastically by doctoral students of the S3 MPI program.
This academic activity featured a distinguished speaker in the field of Islamic Education Management, Prof. Dr. H. Hasan Baharun, M.Pd., who currently serves as Vice Rector III of Universitas Nurul Jadid. He is widely recognized as a prolific scholar with an extensive record of publications in both nationally accredited journals and reputable international journals.
In his opening remarks, the Head of the S3 MPI Program at UIN KHAS Jember, Prof. Dr. H. Moh. Khusnuridlo, M.Pd., emphasized that the ability to write and publish scientific articles in reputable journals, particularly those indexed by Scopus, constitutes an essential competency for doctoral students. He asserted that doctoral candidates are not only required to produce high-quality research but also to effectively communicate their findings to the global academic community through credible scholarly publications.

During the main session, Prof. Dr. H. Hasan Baharun, M.Pd., systematically elaborated on the significance of research ideas as the fundamental basis of scientific writing. He explained that a strong research idea should originate from real-world problems, demonstrate novelty, and maintain relevance to current scholarly developments. Furthermore, he outlined strategies for producing Scopus-standard articles, including selecting appropriate journals, adhering to internationally recognized writing structures, utilizing up-to-date references, and applying effective techniques to avoid plagiarism.
He further highlighted that consistency in writing, critical thinking skills, and perseverance in the revision process are key determinants of success in publishing in reputable journals. “Scopus publication is not merely about research quality; it also involves strategy, precision, and the courage to continuously strive,” he stated.
The participants, consisting of doctoral students in Islamic Education Management, showed high enthusiasm throughout the session. The discussion was highly interactive, featuring critical questions related to international publication experiences. One participant noted that the lecture significantly broadened their perspective, particularly in understanding the technical processes and practical strategies for publishing in Scopus-indexed journals, which had previously been perceived as highly challenging.
This activity also represents a tangible form of academic collaboration between the Postgraduate School of UIN KHAS Jember and Universitas Nurul Jadid. Such collaboration is considered highly beneficial in enhancing the quality of academic human resources, particularly in strengthening research capacity and scientific publication among doctoral students.
Through this initiative, it is expected that S3 MPI students will be increasingly motivated to produce high-quality scholarly work and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Islamic Education Management at the global level.
