Sidoarjo, East Java – The Graduate Program of Nurul Jadid University (UNUJA) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting transparent and accountable scholarship management by participating in the 2024 Financial Reporting Coordination. This two-day event, held on Friday and Saturday, November 22–23, 2024, took place at Premier Place Hotel, Sidoarjo.
Attended by selected Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) and Ma’had Aly from across East Java, the program focused on strengthening scholarship management and financial reporting for programs funded by the East Java Provincial Government’s Lembaga Pengembangan Pendidikan Diniyah (LPPD).
A total of 15 students from UNUJA’s Master’s Program in Islamic Education became recipients of LPPD East Java Provincial Government scholarships for the 2024 fiscal year. These scholarships are a significant investment in the development of human resources (HR) in Islamic education, particularly for pesantren communities in East Java.
According to Prof. Dr. H. Abd. Halim Soebahar, MA., Chairman of LPPD East Java, the primary objective of this activity is to ensure that scholarship funds are utilized in compliance with applicable regulations. “Transparent and accurate accountability reporting is essential for the sustainability of this program. We aim to ensure that our partners fully understand each stage of the reporting process,” he explained.
In a productive atmosphere, participants received direct guidance from the East Java Inspectorate and the provincial government team. A nearly two-hour discussion, held from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, provided participants with an opportunity to delve deeper into the technical aspects of financial reporting for scholarships.
“This guidance truly broadened our understanding, especially regarding our reporting obligations as scholarship recipients,” said one of the participants from UNUJA.
Beyond administrative matters, the program also emphasized the importance of synergy between LPPD, PTKI, and Ma’had Aly in establishing professional standards for scholarship management.
The event involved various educational levels, from Bachelor’s to Doctoral programs, as well as Ma’had Aly’s Marhalah 1 and 2. This demonstrates LPPD East Java’s commitment to engaging all levels of Islamic education in developing outstanding human resources for the province.
“Through such coordination, we can ensure that the scholarship funds are utilized optimally to support the development of Islamic education in pesantren,” Prof. Halim added.
This event was not merely about financial reporting. It represented a concrete step towards fostering trust, collaboration, and collective awareness of the importance of transparency in managing public funds. The UNUJA Graduate Program, as one of the beneficiaries, is committed to fulfilling this responsibility with integrity.
The 2024 Financial Reporting Coordination, initiated by LPPD East Java, is not just a routine agenda. It is a strategic moment to strengthen synergies between the government, PTKI, and Ma’had Aly. With enthusiasm, UNUJA’s Graduate Program supports this vision to realize a more advanced, professional, and impactful Islamic education system for the people of East Java.
Through this program, it is hoped that an increasing number of future generations will emerge from a high-quality Islamic education system, ready to contribute to building the nation’s future.
