Surabaya, Wednesday, August 7, 2024. On Wednesday, the Graduate Program of Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA) participated in the Phase II selection for candidates reading the Yellow Book, specifically the book Fathul Muin. This activity is intended for prospective recipients of S2 and S3 scholarships and was held at the Islamic Center Surabaya.
The selection was attended by 17 Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) from various regions. UNUJA sent 25 participants consisting of 12 males and 13 females, all of whom had previously passed the administrative selection and written test. The participation of UNUJA's participants was directly supervised by Dr. Umar Manshur, MA, the Head of the Master's Program in Islamic Education.
This scholarship program is organized by the Regional Education Development Institute (LPPD) of East Java with full support from the Governor of East Java, Mrs. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa. The program aims to provide broad opportunities and options to accelerate the preparation of quality human resources (HR) from pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in East Java over time. The Governor believes that a better education for future generations will be the key to the development of society and the youth.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. H. Abd. Halim Soebahar, M.A, the chairman of the LPPD of East Java Province. In his speech, Prof. Halim emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and selectivity in the selection process, in line with the expectations of the Governor of East Java. He underscored that the selection process must be conducted transparently and fairly to produce truly quality scholarship recipients.
The reading test of the Yellow Book was supervised by selected Kiais from various regions in East Java, ensuring that the implementation proceeded in an orderly and calm manner. The participants were tested on their ability to understand and read the Fathul Muin, one of the Yellow Books that serves as a reference in Islamic religious education.
The participants appeared enthusiastic about taking this test, which is a crucial stage in obtaining scholarships to pursue studies at the S2 and S3 levels. There are high hopes for them to become superior successors capable of developing the potential of pesantren in East Java.
This scholarship program is expected to produce quality human resources that can contribute to the development of Islamic religious education and actively advance the community in East Java. With strict and transparent selection, it is hoped that scholarship recipients can demonstrate their best abilities and provide positive contributions to the development of education in Indonesia
