As a demonstration of higher education's sensitivity to the uncertain educational situation in Indonesia, the Graduate Program of Nurul Jadid University, Probolinggo, in collaboration with the Association of Islamic Education Managers (PERMAPENDIS) Indonesia, held an academic event through an International Conference on March 12–13, 2023. The conference, themed Islamic Education in the Global Context: Resilience and Transformation in a Time of Uncertainty, took place at Hall 1 of the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School in Probolinggo.
According to Hasan Baharun, this event was organized as a tangible contribution from higher education to provide valuable input to the government regarding future educational policy directions, thus enhancing the competitiveness and quality of education in Indonesia.
This event also served as a platform for academics through a Call for Papers, aimed at gathering research articles from practitioners and scholars. "Alhamdulillah, 253 papers were submitted by participants of the International Conference and will be published in proceedings and reputable journals," stated the Director of the Graduate Program at Nurul Jadid University.
Education experts from various countries attended the event to provide insights into new directions for education development in Indonesia. Keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. H. Khusnulridho, M.Pd. (UIN KHAS Jember), Prof. Dr. H. Badrudin, M.Ag. CEAM (UIN Bandung), Prof. Dato Dr. Jamil Hamili (Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Hj. Siti Patimah, M.Pd. (UIN Raden Intan Lampung), Dr. Captain Al-Hajj Mohammed Bin Al-hajj Abdullah Al-Sinjapuri, Ph.D. (Singapore), Prof. Dr. H. Ilyasin, M.Pd. (UIN SI Samarinda), Prof. Dr. Mesiono, M.Pd. (UIN SU Medan), Dr. H. Hasan Baharun, M.Pd. (UNUJA), Prof. Mohd Fauzi Bin Hamat (Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Candra Wijaya, M.Pd. (UIN SU Medan), Dr. Samlan Ahmad, M.Pd. (IAIN Ternate), Shubham Mukhopadhyay (India), Prof. Dr. Ali Asmu'I (Egypt), Dr. H. Akmal Mundiri, M.Pd. (UNUJA), Dr. Rojab Muhammad Idris Al-Hasani (Egypt), Prof. Dr. Samir Hamada, Ph.D. (USA), and Bannaga Taha Al-Zubair Hussen (Sudan).
The conference, held in both offline and online formats, proceeded smoothly and solemnly, offering new insights to the conference participants for implementation in concrete actions.
