Surabaya — Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA) has once again marked an important milestone in the development of Islamic higher education. On Thursday, 12 February 2026, the Graduate School of Universitas Nurul Jadid officially received the Decree of Operational License for the Doctoral Program (Ph.D.) in Islamic Education Management (MPI) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The handover ceremony was held at 6:00 p.m. (WIB) at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Surabaya.

The Operational License Decree for the Doctoral Program in Islamic Education Management was formally handed over by the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. Suyitno, M.Ag., and received by the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and Human Resources of Universitas Nurul Jadid, M. Noer Fadli Hidayat, M.Kom., representing the university leadership.
In his address, Prof. Dr. H. Suyitno, M.Ag. emphasized that the establishment of doctoral programs within Islamic higher education institutions plays a strategic role in responding to global challenges in education. According to him, Islamic universities should not merely function as centers for the transmission of knowledge, but must also emerge as hubs for intellectual development, policy-oriented research, and transformative leadership in Islamic education.
“The Doctoral Program in Islamic Education Management serves as a strategic platform for producing academics and educational leaders who are not only academically excellent, but also possess strong social sensitivity and a deep commitment to Islamic values. This reflects the essential role of Islamic higher education institutions in building civilization and strengthening national competitiveness,” he stated.
He further highlighted that the presence of the Ph.D. program in Islamic Education Management at UNUJA is expected to strengthen the ecosystem of Islamic education research, stimulate managerial innovation within educational institutions, and serve as a reference point for policymaking in Islamic education at various levels.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and Human Resources of UNUJA, M. Noer Fadli Hidayat, M.Kom., stated that the issuance of the operational license for the Ph.D. program represents a significant institutional achievement, reflecting the maturity of UNUJA’s academic governance. This accomplishment also signifies the government’s trust in the university’s human resources, curriculum readiness, and strategic direction in academic development.
According to him, the Doctoral Program in Islamic Education Management at the Graduate School of UNUJA is designed with a grand vision to deliver doctoral education that generates tangible impact, achieves academic excellence, and is oriented toward the well-being of the Muslim community.
“The Ph.D. program in Islamic Education Management at UNUJA is not merely intended to produce doctoral degree holders, but to nurture thinkers, researchers, and practitioners of Islamic education who are capable of offering solutions to managerial and policy-related challenges in education. This is our commitment to realizing Islamic higher education that is impactful, excellent, and contributive to societal welfare,” he explained.
Furthermore, the establishment of the Doctoral Program in Islamic Education Management is expected to provide strategic benefits for various stakeholders. For Universitas Nurul Jadid, the program will enhance academic reputation, strengthen research culture, and expand national and international collaboration networks. For Islamic higher education institutions and educational organizations more broadly, the Ph.D. program is expected to serve as a center for the development of Islamic education management scholarship, a reference for educational policymaking, and a platform for generating innovative educational management practices that respond to contemporary challenges.
With the official receipt of the operational license decree, Universitas Nurul Jadid reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the advancement of high-quality, competitive, and socially responsive Islamic higher education, while strengthening the strategic role of Islamic universities in national development.
