Universitas Nurul Jadid, through one of its distinguished lecturers, has once again demonstrated its academic contribution at the national level. A postgraduate lecturer from UNUJA was invited as a keynote speaker in the Faculty Development Program organized by the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication at Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya on Thursday, April 23, 2026. The program carried the theme “Optimizing the Utilization of AI in Ethical and High-Quality Scientific Writing” and was held at the university’s main hall.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Moch. Choirul Arif as the Dean of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that the program aims to enhance the capacity of internal lecturers in addressing the challenges of the digital era, particularly in the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Furthermore, the initiative is expected to provide strategic benefits, including improving the quality of scientific publications, strengthening academic integrity, and fostering lecturers’ adaptability to the rapid advancement of technology.

As the main speaker, Prof. Dr. H. Hasan Baharun, who is also a permanent lecturer at UNUJA’s postgraduate program, highlighted the importance of optimizing AI utilization in scientific writing. In his presentation, he underscored that AI should not merely be viewed as a technical tool, but rather as a strategic instrument capable of accelerating research processes, enhancing analytical quality, and enriching academic references when used wisely and ethically.
He further elaborated that the use of AI in academic writing must remain grounded in the principles of academic honesty, transparency, and scholarly responsibility. Lecturers are therefore required to position AI as a co-creator that supports, rather than replaces, the intellectual role of researchers. In this way, the resulting scholarly work maintains originality, analytical depth, and meaningful contributions to the advancement of knowledge.
According to him, the optimization of AI utilization offers significant benefits for lecturers, study programs, and Islamic higher education institutions in general. For lecturers, AI can enhance publication productivity and writing efficiency. For study programs, it contributes to improved accreditation quality and academic reputation. Meanwhile, for Islamic higher education institutions, the ethical use of AI can strengthen institutional competitiveness at both national and global levels, while preserving Islamic values in the development of knowledge.
The program was conducted with high enthusiasm among the lecturers of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, who actively engaged in discussions and explored various practical strategies for implementing AI in scientific writing. It is expected that this initiative will serve as a concrete step toward fostering technology-based academic transformation while upholding ethical standards and scholarly excellence.
