Probolinggo, Sunday, October 12, 2025 — The second day of the Matriculation Program for the Doctoral Program in Islamic Studies at the Postgraduate School of Nurul Jadid University (UNUJA) took place in a solemn and productive atmosphere. The event featured two academic training sessions presented by distinguished scholars and practitioners in Islamic education.
The first session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Saifuddin Zuhri, S.Th.I., M.A. from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, an expert in Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis from the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought. He presented a topic on Writing for Internationally Reputable Journals, providing in-depth insights into strategies for publishing scholarly works in globally indexed journals. This session served as an essential foundation for doctoral students to enhance their research and academic publication competencies.
The second session continued with Dr. Abu Khaer, MA.Hum., who discussed Socio-Religious Institutions in Pesantren. He highlighted the role of Islamic boarding schools as social institutions that preserve Islamic values while shaping the character of a religiously devout community. Both sessions received enthusiastic responses from participants for their relevance to strengthening academic capacity and socio-religious understanding.
Following the second session, the matriculation program was officially concluded (15.30 PM). A total of 27 new doctoral students then proceeded to pay a courtesy visit to KH. Moh. Zuhri Zaini, the caretaker of Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. In a warm and cordial meeting, KH. Zuhri Zaini extended his welcome and blessings to all doctoral candidates.
He also shared the historical development of higher education within the Nurul Jadid institution—from the early undergraduate diploma programs (BA) to the establishment of Nurul Jadid University and the inauguration of its doctoral program. He advised all students to pursue their studies earnestly, uphold academic ethics, and graduate together on time.
The meeting concluded with a joint prayer led by the caretaker, seeking safety, health, success, and the beneficial pursuit of knowledge for all students. The event ended with a group photo session in front of the pesantren office and a heartfelt farewell, marking a meaningful closure to the 2025 UNUJA Doctoral Matriculation in Islamic Studies.
