Probolinggo, May 16, 2026 — The Postgraduate Program of Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA) successfully organized a Studium Generale themed “The Synergy of Local Government and Islamic Boarding Schools in Strengthening Higher Education to Realize Globally Competitive Human Resources” on Saturday (May 16, 2026). The event took place at Hall I of Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School and was attended by academic stakeholders and students.

This activity was designed as a strategic initiative to reinforce collaboration between local government and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in enhancing the quality of higher education grounded in Islamic values and local wisdom. This effort aligns with UNUJA’s vision of becoming an excellent institution that generates impact and contributes to societal well-being.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and Human Resources, M. Noer Fadli Hidayat, M.Kom., emphasized that the event serves a significant purpose in improving the academic quality of UNUJA’s Postgraduate Program while simultaneously expanding institutional partnerships, particularly with local governments and pesantren institutions. He further highlighted that the benefits of this initiative extend beyond the academic community to society at large through the development of adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive human resources.

“Through this activity, UNUJA’s Postgraduate Program is expected to produce graduates who are not only academically उत्कृष्ट but also capable of creating tangible societal impacts and contributing to social welfare,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UNUJA, Dr. H. Najiburrohman, M.Pd., officially opened the event. In his address, he expressed his aspirations for the continued development of UNUJA’s Postgraduate Program as a center of academic excellence rooted in pesantren values, capable of responding to global challenges. He also underscored the importance of innovation, collaboration, and character building in shaping a generation that is competitive both nationally and internationally.

The event featured a keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. KH. Abd. Halim Soebahar, M.A., who currently serves as the Chairman of the Institute for the Development of Pesantren and Diniyah Education (LPPD) of East Java Province. In his presentation, he highlighted the strategic importance of partnerships between Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIS) and LPPD in strengthening the role and sustainability of pesantren in the modern era.

According to him, such collaboration aims to enhance the quality of pesantren education through curriculum integration, human resource capacity building, and the provision of scholarship opportunities for students to pursue higher education. “This synergy is expected to produce a generation from pesantren who are not only deeply rooted in Islamic values but also capable of addressing global challenges,” he explained.

The Studium Generale was attended by institutional leaders within Universitas Nurul Jadid, deans, lecturers, and approximately 160 active students, including those enrolled in regular programs and recipients of the 2024 LPPD scholarship. The participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, particularly during the interactive discussion session, where several students—especially scholarship recipients currently completing their final projects—raised critical questions regarding career development opportunities and their potential contributions to pesantren after graduation.

Furthermore, doctoral (Ph.D.) students of the Postgraduate Program actively contributed to the discussion by addressing strategic issues related to the integration of knowledge, the strengthening of pesantren-based research, and the role of academics in regional development grounded in Islamic values. The dynamic exchange of ideas reflected a strong academic spirit and a firm commitment among participants to support the realization of globally competitive human resources.

Through the implementation of this event, UNUJA’s Postgraduate Program is expected to further strengthen its position as a pesantren-based higher education institution that contributes meaningfully to national development, particularly in producing graduates who are excellent, impactful, and socially prosperous.
